Living here
A Tuesday in Ravet
Getting home
Coming home is a question of which side you hit Mukai Chowk from, because the bypass and the Kiwale road meet there and everything bound for the expressway goes through it. After that the Aundh-Ravet BRT road is wide and quick, past One Mall, over the Sant Tukaram bridge with the Pavana underneath. The last two hundred metres, on several projects, is still builder gravel.
Your street
Most streets here are a gated frontage with a guard cabin, and a road that is immaculate for the length of your compound and then simply stops. Life happens in the clubhouse and on the turf: Kickpitch, Castle, Universal-2's badminton courts. Retail is thin and clustered, Gold's Gym over One Mall, a Wellness Forever near Mukai Chowk, and otherwise the delivery rider.
How the week goes
Half eight and Mukai Chowk stops being a junction; same again at half six. Dehu is five kilometres up the road, so the first week of July belongs to the palkhi: in 2026 the old highway from Central Chowk to Bhakti Shakti shut on the eighth and ninth, with lorries banned from Dehu Kaman days before. September ends at the water, because Ravet is one of PCMC's immersion ghats.
What you'd put up with
Here is the thing nobody puts in the brochure: you will live within sight of the Pavana and still take a tanker through the dry months. The river below Ravet foams. Dust is constant, and residents have been naming the ready-mix plants across this belt as the cause since at least late 2025. Ask a prospective landlord about water before you ask about the view.
Written from the same researched record as the rest of this page. Every place named here is one we hold a source for. Where we had nothing to say about a corner, we left it out rather than filling it in.
Buying
What it costs to buy in Ravet
Stamp duty
7.00%
6% where every buyer is a woman. You are in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
- Base duty
- 5%
- Metro cess
- 1%
- Local body surcharge
- 1%
PCMC is very likely at parity with Pune city at 7%, and the metro cess is independently confirmed to reach Pimpri-Chinchwad. One lender publishes a lower location-dependent range, which we could not reconcile. Treat 7% as the budget figure.
Government valuation
₹6,520/sq ft
₹5,801–6,872 across 7 sub-zones
Duty is charged on this or on your price, whichever is higher. Negotiating below it does not reduce the bill. And past a 10% gap, the difference is taxed as your income.
Zone: Ravet (PCMC series), zone 13/2 (Remaining Residential Property Area as per Vikas Yojna Resident Zone). Two republishers of the Mumbai tables differ by a consistent 15%. We could not verify either against the IGR original, so treat these as indicative of the zone, not as your flat's valuation. Look up your own zone at IGR Maharashtra.
Rent against price
Nothing in Ravet is listed for sale right now, so there is no price to read the rent against.
The vibe
Life in Ravet
Ravet is PCMC's growth frontier: a decade of large gated projects along the Pavana river and the Mumbai-Bangalore highway, aimed squarely at Hinjewadi and Chakan salaries. The appeal is concrete — recent buildings, real amenities, riverside frontage on the better projects, and highway access that gets you onto the expressway in minutes. It is also, still, a construction site in places, with dust, unfinished internal roads and retail that has not caught up to the population. Kiwale and Mamurdi at the edges are more industrial than residential. The Pune Ring Road works cutting through this side will eventually help and are currently just more trucks and diversions.

The calendar
Festivals, crowds and what to expect
No traffic advisory we have read names Ravet for a festival. That does not mean the year is quiet here. It means the disruption has not been big enough to reach a published advisory, which is a useful thing to know but not the same as silence.

Ganesh Chaturthi
Aug–Sep, 10 daysGaneshotsav ends at the water: PCMC listed Ravet among the 104 idol-immersion sites it prepared on the Pavana, Mula and Indrayani in September 2026, which means immersion-day crowds and a closed riverfront approach on the last two days.
Ashadhi Wari
Jun–Jul, palkhi fortnightAshadhi Wari is the big one here, because the Sant Tukaram Maharaj palkhi sets out from Dehu, roughly five kilometres up the road.

Worth knowing
- Mukai Chowk backs up morning and evening - it is the single gateway to the expressway and the bypass
- Construction dust and RMC (ready-mix concrete) plants are named by residents as a persistent air-quality problem across the Punawale-Ravet-Tathawade belt (Free Press Journal, Nov 2025)
- Tanker dependence in the dry months despite sitting on the Pavana
- Pavana river pollution with visible foam on the stretch below Ravet
- Ashadhi Wari week in early July: the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway from Central Chowk to Bhakti Shakti was closed outright on 8-9 July 2026
- Streets that stop mid-block where the next tower has not been handed over
The decibel calculator— how loud does it actually get here?
Estimated at a Ravet home · Aug–Sep
90–105 dB
Like drums or crackers at close range — clearly audible indoors, windows shut.
Pune's defining ten days — mandal loudspeakers, dhol-tasha pathaks and immersion processions converging on Laxmi Road and the river ghats; MPCB monitoring has repeatedly logged readings above 100 dB along the procession corridors.
Modelled estimate (noise-v1.0) from this area's festival calendar and quietness, anchored to MPCB Ganeshotsav monitoring. Laxmi Road procession corridors have repeatedly measured above 100 dB during visarjan. Not a measurement at your window — but an honest basis for the decision.

On the ground
Traffic and infrastructure
Ravet's whole traffic life is decided by two junctions. Mukai Chowk, where the Katraj-Dehu bypass meets the road down from Kiwale, is the one that fails first: it is the gateway for everything heading to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and it backs up from about 8.30am and again from 6.30pm. Bhakti Shakti Chowk at the Nigdi end is the second, and it carries the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway traffic plus the Purple Line extension works. Inside Ravet the Aundh-Ravet BRT road moves reasonably because it is wide, but the Sant Tukaram bridge over the Pavana and the single approach to Walhekarwadi are the pinch points, and the last two kilometres to several towers are still builder roads that end in gravel.
- Roads
- Two genuinely good roads - the Aundh-Ravet BRT road and the Katraj-Dehu bypass - and then a drop straight to gravel. Internal sector roads in the newer Ravet and Kiwale pockets are built by developers ahead of PCMC taking them over, and the join between the two is where the potholes live.
- Water
- PCMC supply off the Pavana, which Ravet sits on. Being next to the source does not mean pressure: residents of the Punawale-Ravet-Tathawade belt told Free Press Journal in November 2025 that supply is 'very poor' and that they buy tankers. Newer high-rises budget for tankers in February-June as a matter of course.
- Power
- MSEDCL. Citizens in the same November 2025 report listed electricity inconsistency among their complaints; expect short unscheduled cuts rather than long outages, and a society-level DG set is standard in the towers.
- Drainage & monsoon
- The weak link. Sewerage and storm-water lines were laid for a village and are being asked to carry twenty-storey buildings; the Pavana itself runs with visible foam at high pollution levels per the same November 2025 report. Low stretches near the Sant Tukaram bridge hold water in heavy monsoon.
Getting around
Public transport and last mile
- Metro
- Purple Line does not reach this slice yet. Its PCMC-Nigdi/Bhakti Shakti extension (4.5 km, four stations: Chinchwad, Akurdi, Nigdi, Bhakti Shakti) began construction mid-2024 and TheMetroRailGuy's 2026 status page puts completion no sooner than 2029. A Nigdi-Chakan Phase 2 corridor (40.9 km, 31 stations, Rs 10,383 cr) with stations listed at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk, Ravet, Punawale, Tathawade, Wakad, Nashik Phata, Bhosari MIDC and Moshi had a revised plan ready in April 2026 but was still awaiting PCMC approval - proposed, not sanctioned (Punekar News, 7 Apr 2026).
- Rail
- Akurdi is the nearest station, about 4 km, on the Pune-Lonavala line. Dehu Road station is similar distance west. Neither is a commute anyone makes into Pune; arrival here is by road.
- Bus
- PMPML plus the Rainbow BRTS on the Aundh-Ravet corridor, running since 2016 (Wikipedia, Ravet). A Nigdi-to-Mukai Chowk BRT extension is planned, not built.
- Last mile
- Autos wait at Mukai Chowk and outside One Mall, but the real last mile is a two-wheeler - several tower clusters off the Aundh-Ravet road still end on unmade builder roads that autos refuse after dark.

Staff, deliveries and everyday life
What it costs in Pune
- part-time cleaning (jhadu-pocha)₹4.5k – ₹10k / month
MyBuddyMaid's Pune page quotes INR 4,500-9,000/month for a part-time maid, defined as '1-4 hours a day - sweeping-mopping, utensils, dusting and laundry on a fixed daily slot'. Broomees, which operates in Pune, quotes INR 6,000-10,000/month for part-time maids across its service cities. MyBuddyMaid explicitly labels its numbers 'indicative monthly bands, not quotes' and publishes identical bands for every city, so they carry no Pune-specific signal.
Moves with: Hours per day, days per week, tasks included, household and home size, locality.
- cook, one meal₹10k – ₹18k / month
IMPORTANT - not split by number of meals. MyBuddyMaid's Pune page quotes INR 10,000-18,000/month for a cook covering 'one or more daily meal slots, matched to your cuisine and diet preferences'. No Pune-specific source separates a one-meal from a two-meal rate.
Moves with: Number of meal slots, cuisine, family size.
- full-time live-out₹12.5k – ₹26k / month
Broomees quotes INR 12,500-20,000/month for full-time maids across its cities including Pune. MyBuddyMaid's Pune page quotes INR 16,000-26,000/month for a full-time maid working '8-12 hours a day (or live-in) who handles all daily household chores' - its band does not separate live-out from live-in.
Moves with: Hours, task mix, household size, locality.
- nanny / childcare₹14k – ₹24k / month
MyBuddyMaid's Pune page quotes INR 14,000-24,000/month for 'trained childcare help for infants, toddlers and school-age children'. Band is not Pune-specific.
Moves with: Child's age, number of children, live-in vs live-out, training.
- elder care₹15k – ₹25k / month
MyBuddyMaid's Pune page quotes INR 15,000-25,000/month for 'non-medical companionship and daily assistance for senior citizens at home'. Band is not Pune-specific.
Moves with: Level of assistance, night duty, live-in vs live-out.
How people actually find someone
Broomees
Operates in Pune alongside Delhi NCR, Bangalore and Ranchi, placing all-rounders, cooks, babysitters, domestic help, elderly and patient care providers and 24-hour live-in workers. The household books online and Broomees sends vetted candidates; it states the salary 'is to be mutually discussed and directly managed between the customer and the helper' and that it takes no cut from the worker's salary.
Cost: INR 49 booking fee plus 18% GST (about INR 57.82), periodically waived for the all-rounder service, plus a monthly membership fee. Salary is paid directly to the worker.
MyBuddyMaid
Placement platform with a dedicated Pune city page and pincode-level service pages. One-time access fee for a verified candidate pool; the household interviews and agrees the salary with the helper after the interview.
Cost: One-time access charge: Silver INR 4,999, Gold INR 5,999, Diamond INR 6,999.
Helper4U
Pan-India placement marketplace for maids, cooks, nannies, caregivers and drivers, operating since 2016; households buy a hiring package to view profiles and interview candidates.
Cost: Tiered one-off hiring packages paid by the household; states no commission and no monthly fees on the worker's salary.
MyGate
Used by Pune societies for visitor management, resident communication and society accounting - 27,000+ communities and 5 million+ homes across 50+ cities. Daily help are normally admitted on a resident-issued gate code or pass.
Cost: Paid by the society.
In Ravet: Ravet gaothan, Kiwale, Walhekarwadi and the Dehu Road settlements sit inside or next to the ward and supply cooks, maids and drivers cheaply; live-out help is plentiful and rates are the lowest end of the Pune range. , our own read on the area, without a source behind it, unlike everything above.
What the law says
There is no legal minimum wage for domestic work here.
Domestic work is not a scheduled employment in this state, so nothing sets a floor. That makes what you pay a matter of conscience rather than compliance.
Police verification
Maharashtra's procedure applies: the household applies for a domestic help / servant verification at the nearest police station, submitting a passport-size photograph of the worker and a photo identity proof (Aadhaar, driving licence, ration card, voter ID or PAN). Guidance on the state procedure states it is advisory rather than compulsory, and that the resulting verification report has no fixed validity period - it lasts as long as whoever is relying on it accepts it. For a formal police clearance certificate, Maharashtra runs pcs.mahaonline.gov.in, a six-step flow (registration, login, application, fee payment, verification by the local police station, verification by the citizen facilitation centre) with a 24x7 helpline on 1800 120 8040. Unlike Mumbai Police, Pune City Police does not publish a dedicated online domestic-servant form that could be verified; its site is a JavaScript application whose forms section could not be read.
The official pageWorth knowing
- Pune has no legal wage floor for domestic work. The nearest honest benchmark is Maharashtra's general unskilled minimum wage, about INR 13,921/month Zone I from 1 January 2026 - a full-time live-out worker paid less than that is being paid below what the state considers the floor for unskilled work in any other sector.
- Registration with the Maharashtra Domestic Workers Welfare Board is the worker's own entitlement and is voluntary; the 2008 Act imposes no registration duty on employers and no employer contribution. A fair employer helps with the paperwork - and with free e-Shram registration - and deducts nothing for either.
- Pune's IT-corridor societies (Hinjewadi, Kharadi, Baner, Wakad) are largely gated with app-based entry, so a new worker cannot get in until the resident adds her at the gate. Check the society's rules on daily-help entry hours and lift access before you sign a lease, and refuse any rule that requires a worker to leave an original ID document at the gate.
- The ILO's 2017 employer survey covered Delhi and Mumbai, not Pune, but its finding on hiring channels is the best available guide to how this works anywhere in urban India: 51% of employer households found their worker through neighbours, 21% through other domestic workers already working nearby, and only 2% through a formal agency. Expect the same in Pune, and expect that a referral chain costs nothing - do not let anyone charge the incoming worker for an introduction.
- Written terms cost nothing and prevent most disputes: hours, tasks, the monthly amount, the pay date, paid leave, notice on both sides, and the festival bonus if you intend to give one. The ILO survey found written contracts rare, and that workers typically expected two to four days off a month with wage deduction for that leave already declining as a practice.
- The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 covers domestic workers, with the route being the district Local Committee rather than an internal committee. Awareness among workers is close to zero - the Martha Farrell Foundation's 2018 study of 291 domestic workers found none had approached a Local Committee.
Researched 2026-09. Rates and rules both move; check the official page before you rely on the process, and treat the ranges as a shape rather than a quote.

Ashadhi Wari is the big one here, because the Sant Tukaram Maharaj palkhi sets out from Dehu, roughly five kilometres up the road. Pimpri-Chinchwad police closed the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway from Central Chowk to Bhakti Shakti on 8 and 9 July 2026 and banned heavy vehicles between Dehu Kaman and Bhakti Shakti from 5 July, so for the best part of a week Ravet's northern exits are either shut or crawling. Cooks, househelp & staff. How it actually works
- 1
The society network hires first
Most cooks and househelps in a building already work in it. Ask the society office and your floor's neighbours before anything else — staff who are known to the building come with built-in references and realistic timings.
- 2
The watchman is the real directory
Security staff know who serves which flats, who has a free slot, and who is reliable. A polite word at the gate typically produces two or three introductions within days.
- 3
Agree the terms everyone uses
Monthly pay scales with tasks and building norms — ask two neighbours what the going rate is on your floor before negotiating. Standard practice: one paid day off a week, a Diwali bonus of one month's pay, and advance notice on leave both ways.
- 4
Do the verification properly
Police verification for domestic staff can be done through your city police's citizen portal — Mumbai and Delhi run it online; Bengaluru accepts forms at the local station. Most societies require it, and good staff expect it. Keep a copy of ID, and share your own references too; trust runs both ways.
