The honest traffic read
Everything here crosses at one point: Mukundrao Ambedkar Chowk, the Vishrantwadi junction where Alandi Road, Airport Road (Tingre Nagar Road) and the Dhanori and Lohegaon roads meet. PMC is building a 630.12 m flyover and a 595 m grade separator through it at Rs 109.15 crore, with approach arms from Alandi, Lohgaon and Yerwada (Free Press Journal, 29 July 2025); the March 2026 deadline slipped and the commissioner has since set end-December 2026, with temple structures still standing in the grade separator's alignment and hawker encroachment on Tank Road blocking traffic (Punekar News, 13 August 2026). Separately, PMC began removing the BRT corridor along 3.5 km of Alandi Road from Vishrantwadi Chowk to Phulenagar in July 2026, starting with 500 m between the chowk and Parulekar School, on the grounds that the dedicated lane had cut the usable road width (Punekar News, 3 July 2026). Peak hours are the airport run outbound in the morning and the Kharadi/Nagar Road return in the evening, both through the same junction.
When the streets fill up
Ganeshotsav is the documented one: the Pune police visarjan advisory covers Yerwada and Vishrantwadi together, with more than 103 mandals routed via Gunjan Chowk, Parnakuti Chowk and Tarakeshwar Chowk to the Chima immersion ghat on Pune–Nagar Road and regulation in force between Shadal Baba Chowk and Tarakeshwar Chowk (Punekar News, 5 September 2025). Ashadhi Wari is structural here rather than incidental — the name Vishrantwadi means 'rest hamlet' and the place was the resting point for Varkaris walking between Alandi and Pandharpur (Wikipedia, Vishrantwadi) — and in 2026 PMC and PCMC cleared the Alandi Road junctions and Kalas Phata for the palkhi between 11 and 18 July (PuneNow, Ashadhi Wari Palkhi 2026 advisory), which is the same Alandi Road that carries Vishrantwadi's daily commute.
