Hyderabad's civic layer runs through colony RWAs and the GHMC's ward system, federated city-wide by bodies like UFERWAS. The RWA office — every colony and gated community has one — handles gate norms, staff verification and the streets' actual conversation; ask the association office or your landlord for the current secretary's contact.
Cooks, househelp & staff. How it actually works
- 1
The society network hires first
Most cooks and househelps in a building already work in it. Ask the society office and your floor's neighbours before anything else — staff who are known to the building come with built-in references and realistic timings.
- 2
The watchman is the real directory
Security staff know who serves which flats, who has a free slot, and who is reliable. A polite word at the gate typically produces two or three introductions within days.
- 3
Agree the terms everyone uses
Monthly pay scales with tasks and building norms — ask two neighbours what the going rate is on your floor before negotiating. Standard practice: one paid day off a week, a Diwali bonus of one month's pay, and advance notice on leave both ways.
- 4
Do the verification properly
Police verification for domestic staff can be done through your city police's citizen portal — Mumbai and Delhi run it online; Bengaluru accepts forms at the local station. Most societies require it, and good staff expect it. Keep a copy of ID, and share your own references too; trust runs both ways.

The honest traffic read
Kokapet lives off the ORR: the Kokapet/Narsingi interchange gives fast runs to the airport and Gachibowli, but the Narsingi junction on the Old Mumbai Highway side and the interior Neopolis approach roads clog with construction traffic and office peaks. Internal roads in the Neopolis grid are still being finished, so diversions are routine. Expect material trucks through the day on the Gandipet Main Road side.
When the streets fill up
Kokapet village observes Bonalu (July) and its local temple jataras with small processions, while the new tower communities celebrate Bathukamma (Sep-Oct) and Ganesh Chaturthi largely inside their own grounds. Immersion-day convoys (Aug-Sep) from the wider corridor use the ORR and Narsingi junction, causing brief slowdowns. Nothing here reaches the scale of the old-city or Tank Bund processions.

The full Kokapet guide, schools, festivals, traffic, transport and moreOpen
Kokapet is Hyderabad's boldest bet on itself: the Neopolis grid auctioned at record prices, cranes building forty-storey answers to the Financial District next door. Early residents get new-build sheen, ORR speed and genuine views; they also get construction dust and a neighbourhood still learning to make chai. Arrive early, priced accordingly.

The calendar
Festivals, crowds and what to expect
No traffic advisory we have read names Kokapet for a festival. That does not mean the year is quiet here. It means the disruption has not been big enough to reach a published advisory, which is a useful thing to know but not the same as silence.
Also noted locally in Kokapet
Bonalu (Kokapet village)
July (Ashada)Village temple observances; brief lane-level processions
Ganesh Chaturthi & immersion
Aug-SepCommunity celebrations in towers; corridor immersion traffic at Narsingi junction on final days
Bathukamma
Sep-Oct (Navratri week)Mostly inside gated-community grounds
Area-level colour from our own research, without a road-level advisory behind it. The dated calendar above is the sourced layer.
Worth knowing
- Construction cranes and dust everywhere — the Neopolis skyscraper grid is actively being built out
- Material trucks and diversions on interior roads through the day
- Sparse streetlighting and street life on unfinished interior stretches after dark
The decibel calculator— how loud does it actually get here?
Estimated at a Kokapet home · Aug–Sep
75–90 dB
Like a loud procession passing — you'll pause conversations near windows.
Khairatabad's giant idol sets the register; immersion day converges on Tank Bund and NH65 with processions, cranes and closures — loudest along the Musi and lake routes.
Modelled estimate (noise-v1.0) from this area's festival calendar and quietness, anchored to TSPCB festival-season monitoring, immersion-day corridors around Tank Bund repeatedly exceed residential norms. Not a measurement at your window — but an honest basis for the decision.

On the ground
Traffic and infrastructure
ORR access is excellent and off-peak movement free-flowing, but Narsingi junction and construction-choked interior roads drag the experience down.
- Roads
- New wide layout roads in Neopolis, many still being completed; connectivity leans on the ORR
- Water
- New towers depend significantly on tankers while trunk water supply catches up with construction
- Power
- New substation-fed supply for the towers; generally reliable
- Drainage & monsoon
- Newly laid stormwater drains; unfinished stretches muddy and pooling in monsoon
Getting around
Public transport and last mile
- Metro
- No metro — Blue Line ends at Raidurg ~7 km away; Kokapet is on proposed future corridors only
- Rail
- No MMTS access nearby
- Bus
- Limited TSRTC service via Narsingi and the ORR service roads; not a bus-first area
- Last mile
- Effectively private-vehicle and cab dependent; autos thin inside the new grid

What it costs in Hyderabad
We have no rates for Hyderabad.
Not a survey, not a news report, not a platform price list. Rather than borrow another city’s numbers and present them as local, we show none. What we do have for Hyderabad. The legal position, how people find help, and the verification process — is below and is solid.
How people actually find someone
Urban Company
Urban Company operates in Hyderabad and offers app-booked home cleaning, including recurring weekly, monthly and daily cleaning bundles. Its hourly Insta Help service (renamed from 'Insta Maids' in March 2025 after criticism) was piloted in Mumbai; whether it has reached Hyderabad could not be confirmed. This is a service booking, not a placement - the worker remains a platform partner, not the household's employee.
Cost: Priced per service or per hour in the app; Hyderabad prices could not be retrieved. At the Insta Help launch the introductory customer price was INR 49/hour (down from INR 245/hour), with the company stating partners are paid INR 150-180/hour.
EzyHelpers
Runs a Hyderabad city page placing maids, nannies, elderly-care helpers and drivers, and states placement typically takes 24-72 hours. It publishes no Hyderabad rates or fees; both are quoted on enquiry.
Cost: Not published for Hyderabad. Its Bengaluru guide quotes INR 25,000 plus taxes for a live-in placement, which may not apply here.
Helper4U
Pan-India placement marketplace for maids, cooks, nannies, caregivers and drivers; the household buys a hiring package to view profiles and interview candidates and then agrees the salary directly.
Cost: Tiered one-off hiring packages paid by the household; states no commission on the worker's salary.
MyGate
Used across Hyderabad gated communities for visitor management and society administration - 27,000+ communities and 5 million+ homes across 50+ cities. Daily help enter on a resident-issued code or pass. In the Malkajgiri commissionerate area, police have been enrolling exactly this population of staff through resident welfare associations.
Cost: Paid by the society.
Gruhakarmikula Union Telangana State (GUTS) and National Platform of Domestic Workers (NPDW)
Not a hiring channel, but the organised voice of the sector in Telangana. On International Domestic Workers Day in June 2026 they submitted a memorandum to the Telangana Labour Ministry demanding legal recognition of domestic workers as workers, mandatory registration of workers, employers and placement agencies, a Domestic Workers Welfare Board, ESI and PF inclusion, minimum wage enforcement with periodic revision, grievance redress for wage theft and harassment, identity cards, and a tripartite committee to draft legislation. They put the number of domestic workers in Telangana at over 11 lakh.
In Kokapet: Newly built area with few adjoining settlements — towers rely on facility-management agencies; help commutes from Narsingi/Manikonda , our own read on the area, without a source behind it, unlike everything above.
What the law says
There is a legal minimum wage for domestic work here.
Domestic work is a scheduled employment in this state, so a notified rate applies and paying below it is unlawful.
Police verification
Two separate things exist and they are often confused. (1) Telangana Police's i-Verify portal at pvc.tspolice.gov.in issues Police Verification Certificates and Police Clearance Certificates online, with online fee payment replacing the old treasury challan and online status tracking. It was launched in April 2021 and is aimed at government and PSU employee verification and at individuals going abroad for study, work or immigration; domestic-help employers are not named as an eligible category. (2) For domestic staff specifically, Hyderabad-area commissionerates run enrolment drives. The Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate launched 'Mee Suraksha' on 16 May 2026 across roughly 550 colonies, gated communities and apartment complexes, collecting details of domestic helpers, cooks, drivers, servants, maids, caretakers, watchmen and other support staff digitally through the Hawkeye Ultra app and Google self-registration forms, with police teams also enrolling on site in coordination with resident welfare associations. Commissioner B Sumathi described it as a 20-day campaign and 'urged residents to cooperate'. Reporting describes it as voluntary. In its first weeks 18,413 people were registered (Malkajgiri 8,771, Uppal 4,837, LB Nagar 4,805).
The official pageWorth knowing
- Hyderabad is the weakest city in this dataset for wage data. No Hyderabad-specific rate from any credible source could be found - not a survey, not a news report, not even a platform pricing page. Rather than publish numbers borrowed from Bengaluru or Mumbai, this dataset returns none. Anyone shipping wage guidance for Hyderabad should commission or source it locally first.
- Telangana has no domestic workers welfare board. That is precisely what unions were demanding in June 2026, alongside registration of workers, employers and placement agencies, ESI and PF inclusion and minimum wage enforcement, on behalf of an estimated 11 lakh domestic workers in the state.
- The 'Mee Suraksha' drive is a police crime-prevention database, not a worker-protection measure: reporting frames it as a response to crimes involving domestic helpers. A household participating in it should be clear that registering someone gives the worker nothing in return. The corresponding thing that does benefit the worker - free e-Shram registration, which is the gateway to unorganised-sector welfare schemes - costs nothing and is worth doing at the same time.
- Mee Suraksha registration data included 975 Nepali nationals among 18,413 registrations in the Malkajgiri area. Migrant domestic workers, including cross-border migrants, are among the most vulnerable to document confiscation and confinement. Holding a worker's passport, Aadhaar or other original documents, or restricting her ability to leave the house, is not a security precaution - it is the mechanism of forced labour, and it is unlawful.
- Because Telangana does have domestic work in its schedule of employments, a Hyderabad employer is in principle bound by a notified minimum wage, unlike an employer in Mumbai, Pune or Delhi. Until the current notified figure is confirmed, the defensible course is to pay at least the pro-rated equivalent of Telangana's general unskilled minimum wage, reported at about INR 16,000 a month Zone I from 1 June 2026.
- Check the society's gate rules before signing a lease. Hyderabad gated communities in the Malkajgiri, Uppal and LB Nagar zones have been actively enrolling staff through resident welfare associations, and some societies make app registration a condition of entry for daily help.
Researched 2026-09. Rates and rules both move; check the official page before you rely on the process, and treat the ranges as a shape rather than a quote.
Everyday, in Kokapet
- Ratnadeep plus in-tower convenience stores cover basics; bigger runs go to Manikonda or Gachibowli
- Quick-commerce reaches the towers but coverage is newer and thinner than the Madhapur core
- Eating-out scene is nascent — a few cafes and the Allu Cinemas F&B strip, else drive out
