The honest traffic read
Vile Parle East is squeezed between the Western Express Highway and the domestic airport, roughly 650m away, so airport cabs and highway traffic mix with local movement on Nehru Road, Subhash Road and Domestic Airport Road. The station-side lanes around Parle market and Hanuman Road are narrow and clog through both peaks. Public transport is the redeeming feature, with station, metro and bus access all close, and the Sahar Elevated Access Road taking some airport traffic off the surface roads.
When the streets fill up
Ganeshotsav is the busiest stretch: the Parleshwar Mandir precinct and the mandals in the Parle gaothan lanes draw processions that close narrow roads off Nehru Road, and immersion-day diversions along the Western Express Highway push traffic into the residential grid. Vile Parle's strong Maharashtrian character also means heavy Gudi Padwa and Navratri programming, much of it at Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha. Airport-bound travel during any festival week deserves extra buffer.
