The honest traffic read
Nepean Sea Road is a narrow two-way climb with almost no parking, so double-parked cars outside buildings are the usual choke. Since the Coastal Road opened, Mukesh Chowk at the bottom of the hill has got noticeably worse, and residents of around 145 buildings are campaigning for a dedicated Coastal Road exit here because traffic currently dumps into Breach Candy instead. School-run hours and the evening walking crowd at Priyadarshini Park add a second, sharper peak.
When the streets fill up
During Ganeshotsav this hill sits directly upstream of Girgaon Chowpatty, the main South Mumbai immersion point, so the Warden Road to Chowpatty run is effectively unusable on Anant Chaturdashi evening. Smaller building and lane mandals bring idols down through Nepean Sea Road to the seafront, and BMC artificial ponds nearby absorb some of them. Navratri and Gudi Padwa are far quieter here than in Girgaon.
