The hill itself is calm, but Walkeshwar Road and the Napean Sea Road-Ridge Road loops choke at school hours and evenings; everything funnels down to Girgaon Chowpatty or Kemps Corner.
When the streets fill up
The Banganga music festival each January fills the tank steps with classical concerts and crowds for a weekend — magical, but the Walkeshwar lanes jam solid. Ganeshotsav is felt mainly on the Chowpatty flank during visarjan days. The rest of the year the hill stays notably quieter than almost anywhere else in Mumbai.
