The honest traffic read
Kurla is one of the worst road knots in the city. LBS Marg carries through-traffic past Kamani Junction and the Phoenix Marketcity entry, which alone can hold up a lane on weekend evenings, while CST Road toward Kalina has been chewed up by link road works and illegal parking that traffic police have repeatedly flagged. The station bridge between east and west is the choke point for anything local. Kurla station is on both Central and Harbour lines, so rail is usually faster than driving.
When the streets fill up
Ganeshotsav is the disruptive one: large mandals across Nehru Nagar, Qureshi Nagar and the Kurla West lanes, with immersion processions moving onto LBS Marg and toward Chembur and Mahul. Police issue explicit Chembur-Kurla diversions for immersion, so plan on losing LBS Marg for those evenings. Eid and Muharram bring large street gatherings and night markets around Kurla West and Nehru Nagar.
