The honest traffic read

Bhulabhai Desai Road is the spine and carries everything between Peddar Road, Kemps Corner and the Coastal Road, so the stretch past Breach Candy Hospital jams in both peaks. Mukesh Chowk has got measurably busier since the Coastal Road opened, and with only three entry-exit points on this stretch the new coastal gardens are expected to push more parked cars onto the road. The Peddar Road flyover has been discussed for two decades and is still not built.

When the streets fill up

Breach Candy has few big mandals of its own, but it sits on the corridor that Ganesh processions from Peddar Road, Tardeo and Kemps Corner use to reach the sea, so Bhulabhai Desai Road slows to walking pace on Anant Chaturdashi and the shorter immersion days. August Kranti Maidan up the hill hosts both pandals and rallies that spill traffic down here. Outside Ganeshotsav the disruption is mostly weekend Coastal Road promenade crowds.
