The honest traffic read
Old Madras Road and the KR Puram bridge are the region's real chokepoint, and Ramamurthy Nagar Main Road, TC Palya Main Road and the Kalkere approach all feed into it. The KR Puram railway underpass and the ORR junction back up badly in both peaks. The Purple Line metro at KR Puram has taken some commuters off the road, but the goods traffic on Old Madras Road has not shifted.
When the streets fill up
Ganesha Chaturthi pandals along Ramamurthy Nagar Main Road and in the Kalkere and TC Palya clusters, with immersion at local tanks, are the main street events. Village jatre traditions survive in the older Kalkere and Jinkethimmanahalli settlements that the layouts grew around. Ayudha Puja in October closes the garages and workshops along the main road for a day.
